People ask why a brand with this much of its thinking shaped by the Gulf, by the Alps, by the South of France, chose London as its home.
The answer is not complicated.
London is the only city in the world where Savile Row and Soho exist within walking distance of each other, where the oldest tailoring tradition in menswear sits a few minutes from the most restless creative culture in Europe. That tension is not incidental to what Calton Brown is. It is the source of it.
Covent Garden, specifically, is where the brand is registered and where it returns to in its thinking. Not because of what Covent Garden looks like, though the Georgian architecture and the particular quality of light on a clear morning are not nothing. But because of what it represents. A neighbourhood that has always attracted people who make things and people who know how to sell them, in the same square mile.
We did not choose London for the heritage. Every brand trying to borrow credibility does that. We chose it because the city operates the way we think the CB man should. Quickly, without explanation, with the assumption that you already know what you are doing here.
London does not introduce itself. Neither does Calton Brown.
