Modern Slavery & Responsible Supply

Calton Brown Ltd, Company No. 17230415. Effective 1 October 2026. Reviewed at least once a year.

Our position

Calton Brown does not tolerate forced labour, human trafficking, slavery, servitude or child labour in any activity connected with our business. This applies to our own conduct and to the manufacturing, fulfilment, logistics and service partners we work with.

Who this applies to

This statement applies to Calton Brown Ltd and to the manufacturers, subcontractors, fulfilment providers, carriers and other suppliers that make, handle or deliver our products. We publish it voluntarily. We are below the turnover threshold at which the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires a formal annual statement, and we do not describe this page as one.

What we prohibit

  • Forced, bonded, compulsory or trafficked labour, and any labour obtained through threat, coercion or deception.
  • Child labour, meaning work by anyone below the minimum legal working age where the work takes place, and any work that is hazardous to young workers.
  • Withholding workers’ identity documents, or requiring workers to pay recruitment fees to obtain or keep their jobs.
  • Unlawful deductions from pay, and restrictions on workers leaving a job on reasonable notice.
  • Unsafe or abusive working conditions, and harassment, violence or discrimination.

What we expect of our partners

We expect every partner to comply with the employment, workplace, health and safety, anti trafficking and human rights laws that apply where they operate, to pay workers lawfully and on time, to keep working hours within legal limits, and to respect workers’ freedom to leave. We expect partners to tell us where they use subcontractors for our products and not to subcontract our production without our knowledge.

How we approach risk

Risk in garment supply chains is highest in raw materials, in subcontracting and in recruitment of migrant workers. We take a proportionate approach, suited to our size.

  • We ask partners to confirm in writing that they meet the expectations above.
  • We ask where a product is made and who makes it, and we aim to keep that information on file.
  • We pay attention to unusually low prices, short lead times and reluctance to share information, as these can be signals of risk.
  • As the business grows, we intend to strengthen supplier documentation, review processes and risk assessment.

What we do not claim

We do not currently operate a third party audit programme or hold a supply chain certification, and we do not claim to. We do not claim a third party certification, audit or supply chain standard unless we have actually obtained or implemented it. Where we make a specific sourcing or responsibility claim, we aim to be able to substantiate it.

Raising a concern

If you have a concern about working conditions in connection with Calton Brown products, please email info@caltonbrown.com with the subject line “Responsible supply concern”. You can tell us who you are or write to us without doing so. We will review every concern, treat it with discretion, and respond within a reasonable time.

If we find a problem

Where a concern is substantiated, we will raise it with the partner involved and require it to be addressed. We may pause orders while we do so, and we may end the relationship where a partner cannot or will not put things right. We will consider the interests of the workers affected and not simply withdraw from a problem.

Review

We review this statement at least once a year and when our supply arrangements change materially. This page states our standards and approach. It does not replace the legal obligations that apply to Calton Brown or its suppliers.
