Cookie Policy

Calton Brown Ltd, Company No. 17230415. Effective 1 October 2026.

This policy explains how caltonbrown.com uses cookies and similar technologies, what each is for, and how you can control them, including how to switch off personalised advertising.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you use a website. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, local storage and device identifiers. We call all of them “cookies” in this policy.

2. The four kinds we use

Kind What it does Consent needed
Strictly necessary Keeps your basket, checkout, login, security and fraud prevention working No
Preferences Remembers choices such as your country and currency Yes, unless strictly necessary for something you asked for
Analytics Tells us how the website is used so that we can improve it Yes in the UK, the EU and other places where the law requires it
Advertising Measures the performance of our adverts and shows you relevant ones on other sites and apps Yes in the UK, the EU and other places where the law requires it

3. Examples of what is used

The list below is illustrative. Names and lifetimes change as our providers update their services.

Provider Kind Typical purpose
Shopify Strictly necessary Basket, checkout, session, security and fraud prevention
Shopify Preferences and analytics Country and currency, and store analytics
Klaviyo Analytics and marketing Recognising a subscriber and measuring email engagement
Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel Advertising Measuring and improving adverts, and showing our adverts to people who may be interested
Google tags Analytics and advertising Measuring traffic and adverts, and product listings
Judge.me Functional Displaying and collecting reviews

4. Advertising technologies: the Meta Pixel and Google tags

4.1 What they do. We use the Meta Pixel and Google tags to advertise our products. They record events on our website, such as viewing a product, adding to a basket or buying, together with identifiers for your browser or device. That information is sent to Meta and Google so that we can measure how our adverts perform, show our adverts to people who may be interested in them, and avoid showing them to people who have already bought.

4.2 Meta and Google are independent. Meta and Google use this information for their own purposes as well, under their own privacy notices. We do not control what they do with it.

4.3 When we ask first. In the United Kingdom, the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and other places where the law requires consent, these technologies are switched on only if you agree. If you do not agree, they do not run.

4.4 Elsewhere. Where the law does not require consent first, they may run when you visit, and you can opt out at any time as described below. If you visit with a Global Privacy Control signal switched on, we treat it as an opt out where the law requires.

4.5 You choose. Switching off personalised adverts does not remove adverts. It means the adverts you see will be less tailored to you.

5. How to switch off personalised advertising

Where What to do
Our website Use the privacy controls on the website to reject or withdraw consent, or visit our Your Privacy Choices page to opt out of sharing for advertising
Your browser Block third party cookies or switch on tracking protection, and switch on the Global Privacy Control signal where your browser supports it
iPhone and iPad In Settings, open Privacy & Security, then Tracking, and turn off permission for apps to request to track you. In Apple Advertising settings, turn off Personalised Ads
Android In Settings, open Privacy, then Ads, and delete your advertising ID or choose to opt out of ads personalisation
Your Meta account Open the ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings and limit the use of activity from partners such as us
Your Google account Open Google’s ad settings (My Ad Center) and turn off ads personalisation

Device settings mainly control apps and your device’s advertising identifier. To stop website cookies, use our website controls and your browser settings as well.

6. Consent and changing your mind

6.1 We use strictly necessary cookies without asking, because the website cannot work without them.

6.2 Where a consent banner is shown, you can accept, reject or manage each kind. Rejecting is as easy as accepting.

6.3 You can change your choice at any time using the privacy controls on the website, or on our Your Privacy Choices page. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop your basket or checkout from working.

7. Third parties

Our providers may set their own cookies, and we are not in control of those cookies. Their privacy notices explain how they use them.

8. Personal information

Where cookie data identifies you, it is handled under our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the website changes. The effective date is shown above. Questions: info@caltonbrown.com, subject line “Privacy request”.
